First Soup Box Race in Buenos Aires

On Sunday 10th of November at 2 pm it was the first Soup Box Race or “Crazy cars”´derby of Buenos Aires. Forty teams raced through the streets of Buenos Aires city on board an array of home-made carts (without engines).
The “cars” competed in a circuit of more than 400 meters.

The first prize was won by “Chivalry Express”, a “car” covered with 5000 bottle corks. The second was for “Titanic” and the thrid for “Carlos Gardel”.

The jury was composed by former Formula 1 pilot Norberto Fontana, the model Carolina “Pampita” Ardohain, actor Nicholas “Tacho” Riera, and Dakar champion Mark Patronellis.

The judges decided taking into account which is the fastest car, the most original and the most clever in design and performance.

The winning team won win a trip to the Gran Prix of Brazil with all expenses paid.
